INSIDE THE MOST DANGEROUS ROOM IN THE WORLD!!!
Everything
that has ever existed eventually dies, so it should come as no surprise that
earth is a pretty dangerous place, but where on earth is the most dangerous
place? To be specific, where is the most dangerous room on earth? The quick answer is a basement located in Pripyat, Ukraine, how this room came to be is
ridiculously interesting and totally worth your time!!
In
1986 the Chernobyl disaster occurred, reactor number 4 experienced a power surge
during a routine overnight test, the temperature inside the reactor core reached
massive surge and in an attempt to control, and even greater power surge was
caused. Due to numerous design flaws in the reactor two explosions followed
from the buildup of steam caused by the explosion of the core!!
This
core melted its way through the pipes, concrete becoming nuclear lava of
nuclear fuel, control rods, concrete, and sand. This object pushed its way into
the basement, later becoming the elephant foot. The USSR brought in half a
million workers in what became the largest civil project at that time to
contain the radiation. Scientists and engineers sent robots to the reactor
basement to clean up only to find the humongous elephant’s foot.
The
elephant's foot measured just under two meters but weighed more than 100 tons,
it was so dangerous at that time that it would expose you to 10,000 regents per
hour.
Just
standing 30 seconds next to it would induce extreme dizziness for up to two
weeks, 2 minutes next to it would cause your cells to hemorrhage, 4 minutes
next to it would cause diarrhea and just 300 seconds next to the elephant foot
would guarantee your death within two
days.
30
years after the incident the elephant’s foot is still hot and burying its way
through the basement, trying to reach the water table of Ukraine
The
elephant’s foot will continue to remain toxic for another 100,000 years, the
sarcophagus built by the red army
liquidators will contain beneath it the deadliest basement in history and 200
tons of corium, 30 tons of contaminated dust, 16 tons of uranium, and plutonium.
The
elephant’s foot will continue existing
for centuries, down in a dark basement, locked away inside of a giant
sarcophagus!!
